All reports here have the same 3 sections: Variables, Tab Settings and Report View.
Your variables include elements like the name, time range, segments and chosen metrics of each report. It’s like an overview of what you’re wanting to look at and learn from.
This is where you can customise your report; select the visualisation type, pivot the table, and add and delete dimensions and metrics in your report. There’s a lot of detail to be found here, so play around with this tool and see what you can find as it’s unique to each report style.
Here you can look at your report in several useful ways. Looking to send a report to a client? Share it as a read-only format. Want to transfer your data out of GA4 and into another platform? Export your report as a .CSV or even Google Sheets document.
3. Limitations of GA4 Explore
While the opportunities for exploration here are modern and exciting, be aware that there are some limitations to be found:
- For each user within a property, you can create a maximum of 200 distinct explorations.
- You can create up to 500 explorations that are shared among users in a single property.
- Within each exploration, it’s possible to apply up to 10 different segments to analyse your data.
- You can use up to 10 filters per tab to refine your analysis even further.
Keep this in the back of your mind when creating your reports so you don’t get caught out.
